This initiative offered comprehensive cultural, historical, and political analysis of Nepal along with round-the-clock interpreting and translating services in English, Nepali, Hindi, and Maithili. This expertise provided understanding about Nepal’s socio-political landscape as well as establishing a liaison with NGOs and government agencies, which further enabled disaster preparedness and response initiatives.
Deliverables contained a Nepal orientation briefing as well as weekly and monthly media analysis reports. Violent events, significant political changes, disaster relief initiatives and Nepal Army operations were all addressed in the weekly reports. Monthly reports also involved recommendations, project status updates, meeting descriptions, and detailed travel updates. Furthermore, major aspects of Nepal’s political, military, economic, and social environment were incorporated in the orientation briefing for PAT guests, which was updated as required.
Additionally, a monthly OHDACA data report that reviewed project statuses and recommended remedial measures were created. Similarly, the continuity file included crucial district-level data, including maps, lodging, NGO operations, and civil strengths and weaknesses.
Securing confidential information and conducting background checks equivalent to those for local employees of the Embassy were essential precautions of safety. In addition, an extensive amount of travel throughout Nepal took place whereby office supplies and equipment offered by the government were utilized. This entailed navigating in an array of settings and following itineraries by Authorized Government Representatives (AGRs)
The timely and exceptional finalization of reports, briefings, and records of meetings constituted the foundation for performance evaluation. This maintained effective assistance for PAT operations and enabled Nepal’s attempt to prepare for disasters and capacity-building were accomplished.
